Hello all,
It's been a long time since my last post - we're busy preparing to
emigrate to New Zealand - but I still lurk here and on .misc
Last night, we went to the Bengal Classic[1], a local Sylheti-run
restaurant that we haven't treid before. I had a "gosht jaflongi" - a
very nice lamb dish cooked with Shathkora / shatkora, a sour fruit
fruit/vegetable that I haven't knowingly eaten before. Whilst a
mouthful of shatkora was pretty sour and not particularly palatable,
the dish was very flavoursome and, for my tastes, a refreshing change
from the sweeter dishes often found in common or garden curry houses.
If you look at the website, be sure to look at the 360 degree panoramic
view of the restaurant and have a look at the Bengal tiger paiting on
the ceiling. The kids loved it as it has red LED eyes!
